Frequently Asked Questions
OK - how much will my aircraft cost?
Suitable turbine or twin-engine-piston pressurized aircraft can be purchased for anywhere between $500,000 and $5,000,000, depending on age, size, engine type, and equipment.
Does Free West Aviation sell or broker aircraft?
No, in order to maintain objectivity, we do not buy, sell, or broker aircraft. After determining the most suitable aircraft for your requirements, we will research the market, make a recommendation, put you in touch with reputable dealers or brokers, and help to arrange pre-purchase inspections.
I'm concerned about safety. How safe are these little airplanes?
Professionally flown, well-maintained aircraft have a better safety record than automobile travel, and better than that of personal aviation as well. That said, realize that there will be times when your crew will cancel a planned flight due to safety concerns. When that happens, do not pressure them to recant - remember, there are times when even the airlines ground their $75,000,000 planes.
What about range? How far will a two- or three-hour flight take me?
The slowest aircraft in our category will get you to Seattle in about 4.5 hours, Chicago in 4 hours, Boise in 3 hours, and Dallas in 2:45. Times for the fastest aircraft in our category are Seattle, about 3 hours; Chicago 2:30; Boise 2 hours; and Dallas 1:45.
How many people can I take with me?
Depends, to some extent, on how far you're going. Aircraft in this category typically have 4 or 6 passenger seats; however, they generally cannot carry a full load of passengers and a full load of fuel at the same time. Your crew will let you know what your options are for any given trip.
